Training course for Mental Health Professionals on Community Mental Health and Psychosocial Rehabilitation


Terms of  References of Yongin WHO Collaborating center are following

(1) To collaborate with the WHO in the development and provision of clinically effective psychiatric rehabilitation and community mental health services in line with the Western Pacific Region Mental Health Strategy;
(2) To collaborate in training and education activities of the WHO's programs, the training and re-orientation of  mental health professionals and primary health care workers in order to develop the attitudes, skills, and  knowledge needed for modern mental health care;
(3) To join the WHO's advocacy efforts in the field of mental  health, with a devotion to increasing awareness of  both policy-makers and the general public of the importance of  mental health in Korea;
(4) To conduct research on the cognitive and vocational functioning of mentally ill patients;
(5) To conduct ongoing evaluations and clinical outcome studies of psychosocial rehabilitation programs.
     
    To achieve the second term of training and re-orientation of mental health professionals and primary health care workers, we prepared training courses to get information and have experience on community mental health and psychosocial rehabilitation, and would like to invite mental health professionals in our Western Pacific Region.

Scope and Objectives of Activities


The relationship between educational approaches to staff development and improved consumer outcome is already verified in mental health area. Teaching staff about learning strategies will lead to more effective rehabilitation
program. The training efforts should focus on helping mental health workers develop user-friendly rehabilitation
program rather than on insisting that individuals learn state-of-the-art intervention. Duration of the training is basically two months, but it can be adjusted to the need of the trainee.

Role of Yongin WHO CC for the Training Program

WHO CC will provide training curriculum, accommodation, transportation and per diem while trainee is under the training.

Request to WHO / WPRO

WHO / WPRO will provide travel cost (round trip air fare) of the trainee.

Recruitment of the trainees

Recruitment of the trainee will be by WHO / WPRO to member country and Yongin WHO CC.
